Set My Eyes On You

“When you lift your hands in dua’a, and look into the unique lines on your palms… As you’re sitting on the floor, before your Lord and as you ask Him for the things that come to your mind… And your list continues… And it expands… And you think of all the things you wanted and realize all the things you actually need… You begin to make dua’a for your aakhira, for your parents’ lives here - for their struggles and hardships to vanish, to never be a disappointment for them - and for their aakhira… And you remember all the people in your life that need guidance and deserve the mercy of the Lord that you sit before… And your eyes begin to fill with tears from your past sins, as you beg for forgiveness, and seek His guidance and His mercy and His blessings… And the tears roll down your cheeks, and at this point you can no longer make dua’a… You’re simply sitting there, before Allah, crying, staring at your hands… No thoughts cross your mind except that you are so insignificant and you’re sitting before the Creator of the universe… And you are thankful that it is He whom you have turned to for help because it is only Him who can grant you your needs and forgiveness… And you feel, at this point, that there is no barrier between you and your Creator and nothing but Him is greater and you realize you need Him more than anything. And you begin to feel an achievement of spiritual connection as you make dua’a to Him. It brings the creation closer to the creator and reminds us of our place and our needs and our weaknesses and His greatness. May He forgive us. May He guide us. Ameen.”
